Peaky Blinders & Netflix for John Sutch Cranes

John Sutch Cranes lifts for Netflix film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man

Not every lift happens on a construction site.

In October 2024, John Sutch Cranes was called in to support filming for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man - the Netflix film starring Cillian Murphy, Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Roth - on location at St George's Hall in Liverpool city centre.

A Grove GMK5150XL was deployed to rig a lighting truss high above the set, working through the night alongside a full production crew in one of Liverpool's most recognisable public spaces.

Film and TV productions place different demands on a crane operation than a typical construction site. Tight scheduling, a live crew and cast on set, and zero tolerance for error all call for the same precision John Sutch applies to its civil engineering and infrastructure lifts — just in a very different environment.

"Film sets bring a completely different kind of pressure," said Paul Parry, Sales Director at John Sutch Cranes. "Everything's on a strict schedule, there's a full crew and cast around you, and the margin for error is zero. It's precision lifting, just with cameras rolling instead of a site manager."

As with all of John Sutch's production and commercial work, discretion is standard practice — client and project details are only shared where confirmed appropriate to do so. This project is one of the few the team is able to talk about publicly.

John Sutch Cranes continues to deliver precision lifting solutions across construction, infrastructure and specialist sectors throughout the North West and beyond.
