North West-based John Sutch Cranes, one of the UK's leading crane hire operators, has announced a significant investment programme totalling nearly £750,000 over the past 12 months, strengthening its transport and rigging fleet while unveiling a bold new brand identity.

As part of this investment, the company has added two new crane ballast trailers from MAX Trailer to its fleet. The new units have a gross weight capacity of 83 tonnes and a payload of more than 71 tonnes, further enhancing John Sutch Cranes' capability to support complex lifting operations safely and efficiently.
Both trailers are specified with 12-tonne BPW axles, hydraulic landing legs, fall arrest systems, tyre pressure monitoring and Michelin XTE 2 tyres, ensuring high performance, safety and reliability across demanding site and highway conditions.
Alongside the fleet upgrades, John Sutch Cranes has introduced a refreshed brand identity, featuring a slick new blue and striking canary yellow livery. The new look reflects a modern, professional crane, transport and rigging operation and aligns the company's external appearance with the standards, capability and ambition that underpin its day-to-day delivery.
The rebrand is being rolled out across the transport fleet and transport assets - creating a consistent and recognisable presence on site and on the road.
The investment programme extends beyond the ballast trailers. John Sutch Cranes has introduced one Scania 660S heavyweight tractor unit, with another two on order for delivery in April 2026.
A comprehensive replacement programme is also underway for the support fleet, including service vans, escort vans, and engineers and rigging division vans of varying sizes - ensuring the entire operation maintains the highest standards of reliability and performance.
Lee Rhoney, Transport Manager at John Sutch Cranes, said:
"This level of investment allows us to raise the bar across our transport and rigging operations. The addition of the new MAX ballast trailers significantly strengthens our lifting support capability, while the wider fleet upgrades improve reliability, planning and safety. The new livery gives the fleet a professional, consistent look that reflects the pride we take in how we operate."
Hayley Sutch, Designate Managing Director, added:
"We announced at the back end of the year and now the brand is getting touched up too. Yes, this is a brand exercise, but it's much, much more than that. This investment is about futureproofing the business.
"We're modernising our fleet, strengthening our capability and creating a brand that reflects where John Sutch Cranes is heading. The new blue and canary yellow identity in our transport departments gives us a strong, confident presence and underlines our long-term commitment to our people, our customers and the markets we serve."
