Big lift in Halton for major housebuilder

We sent our 110 Tonne Liebherr into Cheshire for an attenuation tank formation lift

Yesterday, the John Sutch Cranes team delivered a series of complex precast concrete panel lifts to form an attenuation tank — a critical piece of infrastructure within a live residential development.

This is the kind of work where experience matters. Tight tolerances, confined working areas and zero margin for error mean every element has to be planned, coordinated and executed first time.

The lift was carried out using our Liebherr LTM 110, selected for its reach, stability and precision control — part of a modern fleet designed to support technically demanding civil engineering projects.

Site supervision was led by Joe Miller, overseeing the lift plan and on-site coordination, with Nick Kay operating in the cab. Their calm, methodical approach ensured the operation ran safely, smoothly and exactly to programme.

All of this took place beneath the unmistakable silhouette of the Fiddlers Ferry cooling towers, a landmark in transition, as long-standing infrastructure makes way for new development. While the skyline changes, the requirement for dependable, well-executed lifting remains constant.

We’re proud to be working once again with a Tier 1 housebuilder, supporting a client and site we know well. Repeat work like this reflects the trust placed in our people, our planning and our fleet and our ability to deliver when it matters most.

This project is another example of John Sutch Cranes doing what we do best: providing safe, reliable lifting solutions that keep complex construction programmes moving.

Hayley Sutch, Designate MD, said: “Projects like this show the strength of our team and our fleet. We know the client, we know the site, and we understand what’s required to deliver safely and efficiently. That familiarity, combined with experienced supervision and the right crane selection, is what allows us to carry out complex lifts with confidence.”
