Big Lift. Bigger Impact

A look back at one of 2024’s standout projects.

In 2024, John Sutch Cranes delivered one of its most technically demanding lifts of the year— a critical operation involving the installation of a modular passenger access system at a UK port.

This wasn’t just another lift. It was a showcase of engineering precision, operational control, and strategic collaboration that you get by awarding John Sutch Cranes the job.

At the heart of the project was Tony Shackleton, our experienced Technical Sales Representative, whose role proved pivotal. Tony led the lift planning process from day one — producing detailed method statements, overseeing logistics, and coordinating site operations to ensure everything ran like clockwork.

The Challenge:
  • Handling large, prefabricated steel modules with complex geometry
  • Navigating tight marine infrastructure and access constraints
  • Synchronising multiple cranes in a high-traffic, live site environment
Our Solution:
  • Bespoke lift plan developed in-house
  • Tandem crane strategy to control movement and balance
  • Close coordination with all contractors on-site to manage interfaces
The Result:
  • Flawless installation
  • Zero downtime or safety incidents
  • Delivered on schedule, with full client sign-off

As we move forward in the summer, we’re carrying this same focus into every lift - big or small. Whether you’re planning modular installs, bridge sections, or complex industrial lifts, we’ve got the team and tools to deliver it safely and smartly.
