Appointed Person

At John Sutch Cranes, the Appointed Person (AP) plays a vital role in planning and executing safe, compliant, and efficient lifting operations across construction, infrastructure, and industrial projects throughout the UK.

As a key member of the lifting team, the AP works closely with clients, crane operators, and on-site teams to assess lift requirements, develop detailed lift plans, conduct site visits, and ensure full compliance with LOLER and BS 7121.

This is more than just a technical job — it's about leadership, communication, and problem-solving. The Appointed Person is the central figure who turns client requirements into real-world lifting solutions.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We're looking for someone with:

• Strong technical experience in lifting operations, ideally across varied sectors
• A CPCS A61 (Appointed Person) qualification – blue card preferred
• Confidence working independently and travelling to different client sites
• A strong understanding of risk management, safety standards, and compliance
• Clear, confident communication skills for client-facing tasks and documentation
• The ability to create lift plans, RAMS, and liaise with site teams under pressure

Location & Scope

• Based from our Liverpool or Manchester depot
• Regular site visits across the North West and beyond
